I am just not too sure about these pink houses? Are they for you and me? heehee (John Mellencamp) I like his idea of homes for people. I pray for all Katrina victims and those who are homeless, period.
We have been ministering to a lady and her family (The Pocón Family) since last summer. I am kerping this short but will say what I can in my time right now. She came to our home and I knew something was up. She sat in our living room and then the tears. Last time I saw these come from her she was telling me her father passed away last fall to cancer. I couldn’t imagine what this time.
Well her home was robbed while she was at work. Her door lock was busted… did I tell you she lives in a lamina (metal), wooden pieced together home (not much security from weather or theives). They ran sacked the home and stole her tv, blankets and dishes and other various items. It was heart breaking. The good news, no one in the family was there or got hurt.
As she talked to us, it hit me… they don’t have ‘insurance’ - what’s gone is gone. It’s not like they can file paperwork and in a few weeks or months get a check to buy back the items. Of course the first thing you want to do is replace it all, even if it takes a credit card, but God remoinds me how to minister to them.
We were blessed with a huge set of dishes last summer and so I packed away our plastic (bumpy from microwave) set to give away some day, along with our coffe cup set, silverware set, and some cups. I actually was going to give it to a new couple starting out for their wedding gift. Yes it was used but here, who cares! But God had that set waiting for this moment.
So we drove her home. My husband looked at the door for the proper lock to get. He handed her the box of dishes. The day before we gave her a blanket, so oddly when she went home and the others were stolen, she had one! We went to a hardward store to get an eye-screw (i think that’s right) a strong one. The first store didn’t have it so then we went to another and the guy handed to my husband and said, “free”. Too Cool.
We drove back and my husband helped fix the lock. She really needs and door, let along a new house. We have her in our top three families to get a home once things get rolling as God wants. We need to raise a lot of start up money, and once the production starts, these homes will be HARD to break into for sure! Cause honestly, you could walk through her walls if you wanted. We hope too, to raise money to buy her a stove. She has a filing cabinet she puts wood on top and that’s her stove.
In the photo, she’s the one crouched down. The house is too small to get a ‘normal’ framed photo. It’s her and her two daughters, their husbands and children. Please Pray for Juana and her family.
Since changing my eating habits, this also changed a few more things in out home and it mainly comes down to routine. Not so much a schedule but a routine. I need to make sure I eat three meals. I usually feed the kids breakfast but not me. and so on. Then I need to spend time with the kids more and get off this computer.
So, we eat three meals at our dining table. Way cool. My family’s day seems filled with more quality time and more time in general. This is just exciting to me. I know coming from corporate life to SAHM was huge and it taught me to through schedules and routine out the window and now I have incorporated it back to a point. It’s a start.
In the past month or so I am realizing I know what it is like to have a “high-needs” baby or just a screaming kid!
Woah it’s work and it’s so different than our first. I blame these back teeth!!!! He’s a momma’s boy and I don’t know how it happened. I don’t hold him as much as i held my first. Is that why?
Just pray for me and my hubby. This is new and challenging! I’m glad I have my hubby and God to go to to help me through it. Makes it WAY more tolerable.
I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter! The Jesus rose fromt he Cross one - the Christian one. Not the pagan one with the bunny and eggs. Please be reminded of the cross and it being EMPTY - Jesus is alive and in Heaven (psst, He rose from the dead). He will return for His people. (oh i am so excited about that!) If you have questions about it all - contact me. No I do not know the answers specifically other than Jesus died for me and I accepted Him (in 1997) and you too have a choice. There is no “maybe” choice, it’s either yes or no. Know I am praying for you - my hope is for all to choose YES - “Jesus died for my sins, He is King” - then we can all party for eternity (wow we cant even measure that!). Think about it. Pray about it - the the God that is Jesus’ Father. Yes, Jesus Loves you.
This is way TMI - but my new favorite color is Neon Yellow - can i just laugh now! It’s oddly true but to blog about it is sooo funy! For those who understand - Great! For those who don’t I’m not going to go in detail other than this: I am in a new eating lifestyle. I’ve done it before but went off-the-wagon during the middle of my first pregnancy and now after baby #2 i’m back on! With this better way of eating for my body type with PCOS and all, my body has kicked in lipolysis/ketosis - hence my Neon Yellow! LOL
It was an awesome day as a stay at home mom! Sunday morning and Easter! Now I can count on one hand how many times I dresed up for Easter (church) and this will be a day to add. My husband had to go to church early to practice in the band so I was on my own. Well I started early and before the kids got up, I ate breakfast. Then I was about to get a shower then my daughter was up. No prob - i took a shower the night before. So I got her fed and then dressed. Then we got the baby up and fed and dressed. All of this was done at a calm pace! woo woo. Now I know other moms of two know how much of a feat this is. We also packed the diaper bag with snacks and stuff to do, while the music and announcements are made. This is a feat! I even snuck in a quick Easter photoshoot of the kids.
That’s not all. We came home fromt church and I made lunch and cleaned dishes (by hand, ugh) and did the same with dinner. Now this should be the NORM, I know but it’s tough and espcially to clean dishes after each event. Usually I have to attend to ths kids right away. Well it was all possible because my Husband is the best! He halves my work and more!
It just feels so empowering to have yourself and your home in order, even if it’s for a day! Victory!
