I would not have survived…
I guess because of all the technology and all we do on ELECTRICITY… I would not have survived in the days before electricity! You have to get REAL creative with kids who do not understand why the TV doesn’t come on if it’s not broke and so on. I mean come on “lets watch a DVD while the power is out” right!?
So, we lit as many candles as we could to light up the place and sung songs and danced!!! Ok I did with the kids, my husband made us dinner (he and I, the had JUST eaten). Amen for a GAS stove!!! So the kids went to bed a little early. No electricity means no hot water and in this case…. no water. The pump for the complex is on electricity and it was out too. The guys at the gate said the electric compnay was working on it.
I think I dosed off around 9:30pm and then i woke not too long afetr and was like - the power’s ON! So it was out a total of about 4 hours or so. For whatever reason, we loose power from time to time.
Anyway, it was real tricky to keep the kids entertained without a music CD or lights to see! even reading a book by candelight was tough. Oh wait, i will say AMEN to toys with batteries! We used the Leap Frog Drum for Levi II and a keyboard thing for Lydia. YEAH!!! Send more Batteries!!!
Any ideas for next time?
